LOVING CHICAGO DOWNTOWN

Well, again another shot from Chicago. Is it because I was born there and never grew up there that I have a fascination with this big city? I don’t know. Not sure if I’d want to live there or not but I sure do like to visit it.

It’s changed over the years; new buildings, new parks, sculptures etc. This is the ‘Cloud Gate’ sculpture in Millennium Park towards the south end of Michigan Avenue (At least the part that is in main downtown). It’s a simple sculpture that basically reflects all that is around it. I can’t get enough of it. When ever I visit family here I have to check this thing out each time.

TODAY’S PHOTO – THE BEAN IN THE CITY

I took this shot early on Father’s Day this year 2011. I think I shot this around 6am in the morning before the masses show up and litter the scene.

Well, if you like what you see please comment and share with everyone. I’d love for my photos to be enjoyed by everyone.

Enjoy!

HOT SUMMER DAYS

Well this has been a hot summer here in Boulder. When we first moved here about 8 years ago and there was a few days of a hot spell they said ‘it only lasts about 1 to 2 weeks’. Well, I can say after so many years, this 1 or 2 weeks lasts at least 6 or more weeks. No reprieve!

TODAY’S PHOTO – EARLY ON MICHIGAN AVENUE

Here’s another shot from Chicago. This one is looking north on Michigan avenue. It appears that the road ends at the building but makes a jog to the right as it crosses the Chicago river. Waking up really early paid off as the traffic was basically next to nothing and there were very few people. Within another hour and this road would have been buzzing with all sorts of action.

Enjoy!

ANOTHER FATHER’S DAY SHOT

On Father’s day back in June of this year I took many shots that I feel are worthy of display to you all. I don’t want to post them all at once, but would rather sprinkle them to you over time to keep things fresh. I think that keeps our brains working to remember the places we were and conjure up the memories that we experienced at that time.

TODAY’S PHOTO – GARDEN AMONGST THE URBAN SKY SCRAPERS OF CHICAGO

Here’s another shot I recently processed from my recent trip to Chicago. This is in Millennium Park early on Father’s Day. That black tower in the back is the once named Sear’s Tower which was also the tallest building in the world for many years. I love that they have a botanical garden right in the middle of the downtown area amongst all of the huge buildings. The contrast of living matter and concrete is amazing to me.

Enjoy!

WANDERING AROUND THE ISLAND

This was another beautiful day in Ireland. I arrived at about 7am and had the day to drive around and check out the sites. It’s amazing how many cool places there are to check out on this tiny island. I haven’t even

TODAY’S PHOTO – DROMOLAND CASTLE

This castle is located in County Clare Ireland. On wikepedia it says it was originally constructed in the 15th or 16th century with the present state of it finished in 1835. It is surrounded by a beautiful golf course along with forests land.

This was 3 shots combined in Photomatix and touched up in PS.

EARLY MORNING STROLL

Back in June on Father’s day I decided to be crazy and wake up at the crack of dawn to go downtown to do a personal photowalk. I figured it would be the only time of day that there weren’t a million people all over. And guess what? There was barely anyone on the streets.

TODAY’S PHOTO – THE BRIDGE IN MILLENNIUM PARK

This is the serpent looking bridge in the Millennium Park. In the distance you can make out the superstructure that holds the speakers for the stage area where they play live music. I really like the stainless steel and curves of this bridge and I think the floor is Teak wood which is really nice.

Enjoy!
