WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE SPOT?

DREAMING OF IRELAND

Do you ever dream of going someplace again that you been before? How does it feel when you see photos of that place, whether their your photos or not?

For me that place is Ireland. I’ve been a few times now and fell in love with it that very first time on the approach to the airport as the plane was descending from the heavens onto a misty emerald green landscape. It’s pretty hard to describe the feeling of going there to others. It just is a happy feeling I guess that stays the whole time I’m there.

Even though it does tend to rain a lot there the people are extremely nice and the food isn’t bad either. Many castles and old history are abound and is extremely fascinating to check out. Walking along the shore of an ancient beach that has been battered for millennia is magical.

Being a photographer and carrying around a bunch of gear to snap shots is almost like a zen like feeling while there.

Where is your favorite spot or one you’d like to check out at some point? I have many other places I’d love to visit but I must say Ireland is still at the top of my list.

AN OLD STRANDED IRISH BOAT

I took this shot a little over a year ago on a trip to Ireland for business. This photo was taken while it was pretty windy and rain was coming down. I’m not sure if this boat would actually be in the water as the tide was out and it seemed pretty far from it, though I could be mistaken. The photo was shot on the coast of the inlet from the Atlantic towards Shannon and Limerick.

REPOSTING FROM A G+ POST

This is a post I made back in July on G+. I figured I’d just use the same text for this post

Well, I just completed day 3 here in Ireland. I’m out here for work this week and it started off great yesterday but today didn’t go as planned. I was hoping for an easy going day but ended up having many difficulties. I’m hoping to turn that around tomorrow.

TODAY’S PHOTO – THE ROAD TO THE DROP OFF

The plus to my not so great day was leaving my customer site to witness sunshine! Now, being that it’s mid July and I’m so far north the sunlight lasts a lot longer here. I left my customer with the sun still high up in the sky. I quickly picked up something to eat while out and about and decided to head out to the coast which I love here. I will say though I did go on a not so direct path. I chose not to travel on main roads and cruise along roads not much wider than the tiny care I’ve rented.

This shot was taken of a private road that ran off of the road I was driving on. At the end of this road, or I assume due to being private, are the Cliff of Moher. Those are Ireland’s famous cliffs that plunge about 700ft down to the Atlantic.I’ve been there a couple of times and I can say personally that they are pretty magnificent.

I hope you enjoy today’s post.

Cheers

MY 4TH IRELAND TRIP

Back in July I traveled to Ireland for my 4th time for work. During the week it’s pretty much work, but when I can find some off time or get there on a Sunday, as I did on that trip, I’m able to travel around and check out the countryside. I do have to say that this is one of my favorite places that I’ve ever been to.

TODAY’S PHOTO – THE ABBEY’S RED DOOR

I took this shot at the Trinitarian Abbey. It was founded in 1230. It’s amazing how old some of the structures in this country are. There are many that are older and unfortunately in ruins but great non the less. It’s great to explore some of the ruins and image on life was like back in those times. I can’t seem to get enough of castles and other types of ruins. Can you?

Enjoy!

WANDERING AROUND THE ISLAND

This was another beautiful day in Ireland. I arrived at about 7am and had the day to drive around and check out the sites. It’s amazing how many cool places there are to check out on this tiny island. I haven’t even

TODAY’S PHOTO – DROMOLAND CASTLE

This castle is located in County Clare Ireland. On wikepedia it says it was originally constructed in the 15th or 16th century with the present state of it finished in 1835. It is surrounded by a beautiful golf course along with forests land.

This was 3 shots combined in Photomatix and touched up in PS.

SUMMER RAINS

Well, I thought I’d start riding to work on my bike this week. Got the first one in the other day and was jazzed to go again the next day just to wake up to rain and wet pavement. I don’t know about you, but I don’t really fancy riding in the cold and wet. At least not to work with a laptop strapped to my back. Maybe on a proper trail ride with something hot waiting at the finish line.

TODAY’S PHOTO – THE OLD REAPER

Today’s photo was shot a few years ago at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. About 50 feet to the left is a a 700 foot drop off to the Atlantic! As you can see, it was an amazingly gorgeous day out. It didn’t rain all day and everywhere I drove along the coast people were having picnics, playing outside and whenever I saw a beach it had people out and even in the water. Was really a great day.

Well, I know a lot of you are looking at my posts as I’ve been checking out the statistics. Who’s going to be the first commenter? I’d love to start getting your comments and feedback. What would you like to see? I’ll be off to Chicago in about a weeks time and plan to do an insanely early Father’s Day morning walk downtown to get the sunrise if possible. Weather permitting of course. Will keep you updated.
