WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE SPOT?

DREAMING OF IRELAND

Do you ever dream of going someplace again that you been before? How does it feel when you see photos of that place, whether their your photos or not?

For me that place is Ireland. I’ve been a few times now and fell in love with it that very first time on the approach to the airport as the plane was descending from the heavens onto a misty emerald green landscape. It’s pretty hard to describe the feeling of going there to others. It just is a happy feeling I guess that stays the whole time I’m there.

Even though it does tend to rain a lot there the people are extremely nice and the food isn’t bad either. Many castles and old history are abound and is extremely fascinating to check out. Walking along the shore of an ancient beach that has been battered for millennia is magical.

Being a photographer and carrying around a bunch of gear to snap shots is almost like a zen like feeling while there.

Where is your favorite spot or one you’d like to check out at some point? I have many other places I’d love to visit but I must say Ireland is still at the top of my list.

AN OLD STRANDED IRISH BOAT

I took this shot a little over a year ago on a trip to Ireland for business. This photo was taken while it was pretty windy and rain was coming down. I’m not sure if this boat would actually be in the water as the tide was out and it seemed pretty far from it, though I could be mistaken. The photo was shot on the coast of the inlet from the Atlantic towards Shannon and Limerick.

BOATS WAITING FOR THEIR TURN

TODAY’S PHOTO – SMALL IRISH HARBOR

Well, again here is a shot from Liscannor, Ireland. This is a little fishing village that if you blink you’d miss it. The weather was amazing and I was able to walk around the harbor and check out the beauty of the area. I happened to walk out towards the water when I remember hearing a few people getting excited. I quickly hustled over to where they were all looking to see a pod of dolphins off shore. They were swimming pretty quickly in the bay and jumping out of the water. Was an amazing sight!

BICYCLING IN BOULDER

So, the other day I was driving to work and pulled up behind someone at a stop sign waiting for a chance to make their turn. I hear shouting coming from my left as a bicyclist comes flying down the side walk. He’s screaming ‘GO GO GO!’. Then when he finally gets to the intersection starts yelling at the woman in front of me that she’s pulled through the stop sign and hasn’t moved. Then threatens her that he’ll sue her for everything she’s got if she does this again. Does what again? Block the intersection because she has to inch out beyond the stop sign so she can actually see the oncoming traffic?

My thought was that he’s complaining about his woman’s driving but here he is riding his bike on a sideWALK!!! It’s not called a sideRIDE. Isn’t there some law against riding on a sidewalk and demanding walkers move out of the way? They do it all the time.

TODAY’S PHOTO – SITKA BY THE SHORE

This was a view from our cabin when we had made port in Sitka, Alaska lat year. This little island seemed to inhabited by few houses. From our view we could see many little island like this traveled heavily by many fishing boats.

THE ST. ANASTASIA PULLS UP TO SHORE

AN ISLAND OFF OF JUNEAU, ALASKA

We had made port in Juneau Alaska during our cruise and went on a boat tour around the surrounding area. We were able to see hump back whales and stellar sea lions which were fantastic to see in person.

Towards the end of our boat tour we pulled up to this small island to get up close and personal with the flora, not to mention getting a close view of a Bald Eagle up in one of the trees. We learned that taking feathers found from Bald Eagles is illegal. Probably a good thing I didn’t find one as I would have pretty tempted to not say anything.
