A DAY IN LONDON TOWN

After spending a few days out in Wales we planned to have one day in London before hopping on another plane to Germany. The day was gorgeous and pretty warm. We left early morning to drive back to the Heathrow airport to drop our car off and check into our hotel to drop our multitude of baggage off. Next we hopped on the Tube downtown and got off at the Tower Station. Did a bit of walking around and checking out the sites before hopping on a Thames ferry to the London Eye for a scenic ride.

TODAY’S PHOTO – I SPY THE LONDON EYE

This thing is cool! Well, it was pretty warm inside I have to admit, but the views are breathtaking and awesome. You can literally see for miles and can many landmarks are within view. Just below right you can see the Houses of Parliament and behind that in the distance is the Battersea Power Station. This is not your ordinary Ferris wheel. It’s huge and high, and the ride around once takes about 30 minutes. Well worth the time if you have it. I do suggest prebooking a ‘flight’, as they call it, to save from standing in line for several hours.

Enjoy!

BUSY FEW DAYS OFF IN CHICAGO

Well, it’s been almost a week since I posted something here. My family and I were visiting Chicago and celebrating my Grandfather’s 90th Birthday. A pretty special thing if you think about. Another thing that made it pretty special and interesting is that not only does my Grandfather have a twin sister, but she’s still around and they got to celebrate together. How often do you hear of that happening.

TODAY’S PHOTO – CLOUD GATE IN THE PARK

Well, for today’s photo a shot of the ‘Cloud Gate’ sculpture in Millennium Park in Chicago. Now, I shot this at about 6:15 in the morning of Father’s Day. I figured at that time of the morning downtown there wouldn’t be that many people around. And I was right! I’ve been to this Park a few times before but always with droves of tourists lurking around.

I bet you didn’t even know the real name of this sculpture. Everyone, probably world-wide calls it the ‘Bean’. I do as well, but I thought I’d name this one by it’s real name. I had processed this one in Chicago on our travels and after showing it to my now 90 year old Grandfather, he fell in love with this shot. He wants it blown up big and hanging on his wall next to his dining room. I might just have to oblige his wishes.

SUMMER RAINS

Well, I thought I’d start riding to work on my bike this week. Got the first one in the other day and was jazzed to go again the next day just to wake up to rain and wet pavement. I don’t know about you, but I don’t really fancy riding in the cold and wet. At least not to work with a laptop strapped to my back. Maybe on a proper trail ride with something hot waiting at the finish line.

TODAY’S PHOTO – THE OLD REAPER

Today’s photo was shot a few years ago at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. About 50 feet to the left is a a 700 foot drop off to the Atlantic! As you can see, it was an amazingly gorgeous day out. It didn’t rain all day and everywhere I drove along the coast people were having picnics, playing outside and whenever I saw a beach it had people out and even in the water. Was really a great day.

Well, I know a lot of you are looking at my posts as I’ve been checking out the statistics. Who’s going to be the first commenter? I’d love to start getting your comments and feedback. What would you like to see? I’ll be off to Chicago in about a weeks time and plan to do an insanely early Father’s Day morning walk downtown to get the sunrise if possible. Weather permitting of course. Will keep you updated.

FLOWER IN THE GARDEN

TODAY’S PHOTO – RED FLOWER IN THE GARDEN

I don’t quite remember where I shot this photo. I believe I took it in Capitola, California a few years ago while visiting the coast. We moved to Colorado back in 2003 and the only thing we miss is the ocean. It was great to get away and smell the salty air

We had stayed in a small rental house that was a short walk to the beach and it was surrounded by an amazing array of flowers. I had a lot of fun shooting there.

IRELAND ON THE MIND

TODAY’S PHOTO – AN OLD IRISH FISHING RV

A few years ago I arrived at the Shannon airport on the west side of Ireland to a low cloud bank and figured I’d have to cruise around in some gloomy weather. By the time I got out of the airport and had gotten to my rental care the clouds were breaking and blue sky was peeking it’s head through. A few hours later it turned into an amazing day! Not a cloud in the sky, which of course meant no rain that day.

I decided to drive out towards the Cliffs of Moher and passed through this tiny fishing village call Liscannor. I parked my car and started walking around this awesome little harbor and came across this old looking RV that seemed to be some sort of fishing storage.
